GONE HAZEL (Debut Album) -

Mission Statement: "At the heart of our band is the desire to honor Jesus Christ and share His life and love to others. We pray that when you listen to our songs and words you would be touched by the Maker."

Solely through prayer and their dependence on the grace of God, Gone Hazel strives to lead others to be more like Christ through not only their music, but by the example of their personal lives as well. They earnestly work toward leading people into a closer and deeper relationship with the Lord, which can mean introducing Christ to people for the first time, or by encouraging and inspiring someone who is already a believer.

GONE HAZEL, who write and perform their own music, have been described as a "progressive, alternative rock band," who offer their audience their own unique combination of captivating sound and lyrics, which combine to make a dynamic, new kind of rock and roll that reaches out to their audience, with a strong Gospel message.

The four young men who are the members of Gone Hazel, all hail from Orange County, California and have been playing together for over two years, range in age from 17 - 21.

Ryan Smith is a talented fellow. He plays Bass electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, and harmonica.

Tim Drnec does a fine job on the lead vocals and excels on the acoustic guitar. Kyle Circle - is the expert in charge of the drums and percussion.

David Rooks - Plays the guitar, is in charge of the BGV's, toothbrush, and rubber bands.

On their album, GONE HAZEL, Jon Druse was the lead guitar and did the BGV's.

Their album, GONE HAZEL, was mixed and produced by the talented Bob Burch at Backbone Studios, in Westminster, CA. Tim Drnec credits Bob Burch as being the biggest influence on his music. Much can be learned from the ideas and expertise of a great producer. There is something for everyone on this CD. It offers meaningful lyrics, to go along with interesting arrangements in their unique style of music.

The following songs do indeed speak to your soul, sharing the love of Christ, and honor Him for who He is, the Son of God, who is our Lord and Savior. They challenge listeners to seek the truth for themselves.

"If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus or want to know more in relation to what we are singing about, we challenge you to seek out the truth." - GONE HAZEL

REMIND ME - Starts with rhythmic percussion, acoustical guitars. Electric guitars join in. Great use of dynamics. Vocals right on target. Music builds from quiet start to a dynamic high and has a swirling ending using a synthesizer.

A discussion between an unbeliever and a believer. The attitudes, words and life style of the unbeliever reminds the believer what his own life was like, before accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. Because the believer shows his faith through his behavior, and lifestyle, the unbeliever sees Jesus in him, and wants the same thing.

Lyrical Sample: Day-by-day I'm on my knees, begin to pray....

You whisper out loud, you stand in a crowd, you act like tomorrow has all ready come..... Grab hold and see, what's inside of me, you wish you had what I adore. Your word alone, Reminds me.

Chorus: That day-by-day I'm on my knees, I'll ask you again until you're pleased. Your word alone reminds me. One word can make a statement, of all the things you've tried to hide.... Take hold of life and follow the light and see all his glory. Your word alone, Reminds me...

BREATHE - Upbeat Praise song, a love letter to the Lord. Driving syncopated rock beat, with full chorus of electric guitars during loud sections, acoustical guitars during quiet moments in the song. Nice use of echo on 3rd verse.

Lyrical Sample: Beautiful in grace and everything. Time and time again until we see. Grab a hold on life in all we are. Stand alone tonight come from afar.

I am just like you. And I will see you through.

Chorus: Breathe down on me my love. I could raise these hands so high. Above I'm falling in love with you.

Refrain: Oh Jesus! Holy, Holy My Lord! Holy, Holy He's the Lord!

BETTER DAYS - Starts off with nice acoustical guitar for introduction, then acoustical guitars and electric guitars, before all jump in. Once again the song offers an interesting variety of dynamics, solid playing, and nice vocals.

In trials we find ourselves in, we often don't know what to do, are befuddled about the situation and sometimes don't know what to pray for. When we turn to the Lord in prayer, who is faithful, we have the promise that he will see us through our difficulties.

Lyrical Sample: Hand and hand we're walking through, never knowing what to do. A glimpse of faith, an open door. So take my heart and all my shame, never knowing who's to blame. The hidden truth, I hold the key.

Never knowing what to say, empty need I am to pray. I claim to know nothing at all.

I'm calling harder all the time, for what I've seen I cross the line. I take your hand, your grace enthroned.

Chorus: Your Better Days will come. And for now. I know where they're from. And I have no reason for glory. In all I do. In all I say.

EQUILIBRIUM - Acoustical guitars set the driving rhythmic beat, joined by a fine electric guitar and rock drum beat. Has an assortment of interesting sounds. A real energizer, with a touch of soul in the vocals. Tim experiments with his voice, delivering a fine sound to match the feeling of the music. Great for dancing, sure to lift your spirits!

Our tendency to sin in thought, word, and deed is ever with us. To get through our daily temptations, and our tendency to say or do the wrong thing, to be over busy, we must depend on our cornerstone, Jesus.

Lyrical Samples: I know the games you play, you play them all the time, I know that running baby feels like a climb...I know when words are simple that I cannot withhold.

I know that every day is a trial of its own. I'll place my trust in Jesus, living cornerstone. I know the plans he has to prosper me for good. I know his grace is pure this love is understood.

I know that when I sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, Take hold of prayer and certainty, and all the things that I hide. Inside my life is fullness. Look around and oh my goodness, Jesus, come rescue me and take me home tonight.

Chorus: Tonight, divine. I can't see your face you're black and white. Tonight's the day. I'll take your picture. And I'll take you home.

FERVENT WORDS - Easy beat, acoustical guitars, some electric guitars in background.

This song could have several interpretations. My interpretation may be different than yours. A young man realizes the love that his parents have for him, while he is perhaps morning the death of his sister, finding mercy, comfort, and peace from prayer, and embraces Jesus on a new level out of his agony of loss.

Lyrical Sample: The sound of my sister's perpetual laugh. Brings tears to my eyes and chills down the back. A woman of God, take all your wings and soar.

Chorus: Your Fervent words are all I say. I tried so hard I'll take the blame.

Reflections of life, a glimpse of faith. Peace from within and mercy from grace. Love is a new and this time has faded away.

Lift up your hands, and fall on your knees. Embrace the hand, in agony. Watch as you soar and take everlasting light.

When I was young I bore his name, together we stand and strive to proclaim, to live is Christ to die is gain, His love endures my heart in all I say.

FALLING - Sounds like a steel drum, guitars, and synthesizer, with an easy beat.

A heavy - hearted believer who has given into a sin, turns to his Lord and finds mercy and a pep talk. Lord tells him that He will see him through. And though He sees that the believer has fallen, He tells the believer to get up and try again in his walk with Him. Marking his way with truth so he won't stray again.

Lyrical Sample: I lift my hands to a king, struck by mercy. A laden heart, a faded view - My son I'll lead you through.

Embrace my soul, give me truth.

Chorus: My son, I'm calling you. I can see you, and you're falling down. Take up your cross and mark your way. You're eyes won't stray away.

I'm broken, bleeding, growing cold. His grace is pure gold. Oh Father, won't you carry me. I am blinded.

TIME - Starts with a sharp, energetic rock drum beat, followed by equally energetic electric guitars. Not only will you have the urge to dance around the room, praising God, but clapping your hands as well! A great upbeat dance praise song, sure to encourage you with the good news of God's love and faithfulness.

No matter what terrible state the world is in, the believer and the Lord are walking together. The believer knows and believes on the Lord's faithful love, which never fails us. Believer is guided by His light of glory (the Holy Spirit), even seeing in dark circumstances.

Lyrical Sample: Looking around the world today. On the streets where children play. So dark outside it looks like it could rain....Sunny days and climbing trees, Baseball games and scuffed up knee. Once again the time has passed us by.

And love is all gone. And time has passed us by. And day-by-day we are, Walking side by side.

Chorus: Time has taken over. Your love is all I can see. Time has taken over. Your love is all I believe.

Can you run when others walk. Can you see when all is lost. Guided by the light in glory, yeah. So lift your hands up in praise. Give Him thanks in all your days.

SLIP - Flowing electric guitars, easy beat until the chorus, when dynamics change.

A song about turning from sin in repentance into the loving arms of Jesus.

Lyrical Sample: You stand around, you breathe alone. Your breath captures a frame. One mask is worn as two are falling. His hand captures your face. You try so hard to be the man. But still so far from grace.

You slip on down your knees hit ground. The change is ever knowing. Once a fool you turned around to arms that are wide open.

Chorus: You know how far, He can make your amends, Before you would go, to find away outside. The difference is there. To find away to hide, no matter who stares.

GRACE - Acoustical guitars set the rhythmic beat in the beginning with drumbeat. Interesting electric guitar background. Very pretty acoustical and electric guitar duet toward the end.

A great upbeat praise song that celebrates the Lord's character, His mercy, love & glory, and the fact that it is his grace alone that saves us through Jesus Christ, who lives in all believers.

Lyrical Sample: Holiness that brings new life. Faithfulness that's not in sight. Righteousness that sets you free. Beautifulness is all you see.

Chorus: And, Glory Lord, You are holy, Your love oh Lord. Abides in me. And, Glory Lord. You are holy. Your love oh Lord, is all I see. And I am saved by grace alone. I worship you Lord with all my soul.

THANK YOU - Despite our weaknesses, God generously give His children His mercy and His love, which we dearly need and depend on. Encourages the listener to evaluate their own dependence on the Lord.

Lyrical Sample: Where do you stand when it comes down to? The truth and light and all its views. Are you a saint who claims to lack - Nothing?

(Personal witness) Time and time I stand alone. My faith is weak and not in stone. Fields of grace your love is pure. Not empty, adored.

Chorus: Thank you for giving me your breath Eternity. Thank you for giving me new life Eternally.

TONIGHT'S ALRIGHT - An early morning acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Lyrical Sample: It's 3 A.M. I'm thinking aloud. Of what I've seen and what its about. The words are heavy; they pierce like thorns. A glimpse of truth I can afford.

Beside your bed, you kneel down. The light around you, lit by a frown. The clock is ticking, its calling to you. No use in hiding.

I'm leaving, I'm crawling, I'm calling to my Father, Day by day it is the same. I'm down on my knees. begging you please, oh won't you go.

Chorus: Today Goodbye. I'm not the same one now. Tonight's Alright. I'm saved and living in the truth.
