Carolyn Arends Review - Feel Free
Arends' second album is undoubtedly her best, even compared
to her later releases. Comprised mainly of pop acoustic
tunes overlaid with edgy electric guitars, Feel Free delivers
some powerful sentiments reflecting on God's presence
in everyday life.
From the opener 'Do What You Do' (which has some wonderful
percussion) to the catchy 'Last Thursday' to the boldness
of the message of friendship in 'Feel Free', Carolyn's
strong conviction in the binding grace of Jesus is quite
clear. There's a few softer songs that are quite enjoyable
as well. Carolyn sings in awe of God's love in 'There
You Are', searches for answers to the mysteries of life
in 'Do We Dare', and sings honestly and vulnerably in
'Good Thing Going', a gentle love song. Finally, 'Father,
Thy Will Be Done' is a noteworthy closing piece as it
is a perfect song to be used in congregational worship.
