- A Maze Of Grace (Avalon)
Avalon's
second release builds on the acclaim of their self-titled
debut. The pop vocal arrangements that drew listeners
have gotten even stronger and more accomplished.
The
group shines on the faster songs, beautiful catchy melodies
highlighted with brave harmonies. 'Testify to Love',
'A Maze of Grace', and 'Speed of Light' are among the
faster songs that highlight the album. The slower songs
are good as well, but don't catch your ear the way that
the faster songs do.
As
with their debut, Avalon contributed little to the songwriting
of the album. It brings up the question whether we have
Charlie Peacock, who again did producing and co-writing
duties, or Avalon, to thank for this album. But whatever
can be said of Avalon, with increased radio play, noticeable
development of their style and improved production values,
'A Maze of Grace' is worlds ahead of their first album
and an inspiring pop accomplishment, enjoyable for listeners
of all ages.
